This week has been nearly flawless for keeping up with the raw vegan shake diet. I suppose if you were to classify my strict involvement with it, you would say that I have three raw vegan shakes a day, and one 'normal' meal… or that's how I had taken it up until my birthday. It is not too different from some of the less nutritious shake diet plans out in existence, the big difference, is that you aren't starving yourself of vital nutrients the body needs to survive. In fact, you're giving your body more vitamins and nutrients than you're used to getting. (I can't stop geeking out about not needing to take a multi vitamin)
I'm afraid that posting this week after week is preachy, I'm not trying to preach, I found something incredibly healthy that works for me, and this is my weekly journal about how easy it is to do it; I DO find it very easy to let my enthusiasm show though… and because it makes me happy, I want to make you (yes, you specifically) happy.
This week, in regards to ways to lose weight, I thought about the people at the gym… the ones that are there to lose weight. Then I started doing some math:
- 20 minutes on the treadmill at 4.5 miles an hour (or so depending on your body) is about 150 calories burned.
- One 12 oz Generic Soda (bottle of soda) is 150 calories.
I do think going to the gym IS important, but looking at this simple math, I think that if you want to lose weight, it may not be the most influential change you could make to your life.
Recommendation: Do moderate strength training at the gym, and eat healthier (at least replacing one meal of fruit / veggie shake could be a really great start)
I had my 'free' meal the other night, the one that I don't pay too much attention to, and I know that it has too much sodium in it. Today I woke up and even with having a not fantastically healthy meal last night, my body looks like what I want it to. I cannot seem to recommend this raw vegan shake diet highly enough. It has changed my life on so many levels… but my egotistically favorite one is how I look in the mirror… and how I feel all the time… and the fact that I CAN run a mile now faster then I could at any point in the last ten years and still have energy to spare.
KEY BENEFIT: I don't have to take a multivitamin!!! lol
